PUNTA BLANCA: COTILLO HIDDEN REEF BREAK

1. INTRODUCTION

Punta Blanca is the iconic left-hand reef break just north of El Cotillo. On the right swell it delivers long fast walls that have made the spot famous well beyond Fuerteventura.

• Left-hand reef, NW swell.
• Best size: 1.2 - 2.5 m.
• Level: intermediate to advanced.
• Tide: low to mid.

3. HOW TO GET THERE

5 minutes drive north of El Cotillo on the unpaved track to the lighthouse. Park near the rocky shore and walk down.

4. WHAT TO EXPECT

Powerful peeling lefts, urchin reef bottom, often crowded with locals. Watch the line-up from the cliff for 20 minutes before paddling out.
